About Republika ng Maharlika
This Channel is dedicated to the Philippines (Maharlika) history. It displays the unique psyche prevalent among Filipinos, that confusion as to where they belong in the world. Geographically Asian with mixed bloods (yes there are no PURE pinoys racially other than the Aborigines(Aetas)).
The reason this is so is because of the various civilization who have influenced these islands both Eastern and Western leaving thier culture imprinted in our psyche yet not strong enough to pull Filipinos from one sphere to another.
Islamic faith gradually took hold in the islands with the disintegration of the Sri Vijaya Empire which ruled these islands (Mindanao&Visayas) ancient times until 1400 and Song Dynasty of China which established Lu Zong Gao in Luzon. Spanish Empire eventually was able to wrestle control of much of these islands from the Brunei and Sulu (Madjapahit) Empire in 1565 only to lose it to the Americans in 1898. Japanese empire wrestled these islands from the Americans 1941.
