@skooly12 Paul had a very wide range also. Listen to his post-Tempts solo work on 'Once You Had A Heart'. His voice, and range were wide. Though their voices sometimes sound similar in the mid range, David was a raspy tenor, while Paul was a baritone.

@Snoop4966 Great ears. You're right! You can hear David singing the top note in background, in his falsetto, which he did often when Eddie sang lead. After all he did inherit Al Bryant's vacated lead tenor spot in the background. Ciao

@Cadeho3 You've got a great ear. You like to analyze the background harmonies just as I do. However, the order is Melvin, Al, Otis, then Paul. Listen to Otis's unmistakable falsetto under Al singing the second tenor on the part "pillow took your place".... When he sings out his voice is pretty st...

Throughout his career, whenever Eddie sang in his natural voice, many listeners, unfamiliar with the full range of his voice, had no idea it was Eddie, unless he used his falsetto. When he sang in a softer head tone, he could transition into his falsetto, smoothly, almost imperceivable.

Never heard the Dennis Edwards spin behind this song. Since the Temptations is my number one vocal group that's cool. I've never heard that one before, and I'm a Tempts trivia wiz!! Must have been the days before Glynn Turman

Great ear, TemptationsFan1995. The unique thing about the Tempts was how they could sometimes sound alike on certain songs. The blend was just so smooth, and beautiful. Ciao!!!
