From now on this will be my fitness channel as I chart my physical progress.
About Me:

I have had a Pectus Excavatum repair 'Ravitch Procedure' (UK NHS).

I was in Hospital for 5 Days.
A metal bar was placed inside my chest to stabalise my sternum while it healed, It was in for 4 months.

The reason the surgeon did the operation was for 'cosmetic' reasons, but I had pysical issues I felt many doctors ignored. I do feel much better now and time will tell how much better I will feel in the future.

If your bothered by your pectus, you need to first see your doctor and ask to be referred to a thorasic/chest surgeon, they may agree to alter it on the basis for mental, phsyical or cosmetic reasons. Many doctors act like they dont give a shit, so if your not happy with their attitude get a second opinion.

Check out Xodusboy's Pectus Recovery Progress videos for more indepth information on Pectus Repair.

I felt alot of discomfort before the operation, that they said wasnt related to the PE, but most of those discomforts are now gone, I dont feel my heart pounding my chest anymore, I feel its too early to tell untill I work out on a regular basis, the end result itself isn't perfect but its a vast improvement. Doctors seem to be trained to just ignore anyone with PE complains and its fucking annoying.

I personally didnt feel good about wanting it done for only cosmetic reasons but that combined with my discomfort and reduction in lung capacity (including the natural decrease in lung capacity as you age) was enough for me to justify having it done, The decrease in discomfort and better look of my chest also improves my mental state.

I made a choice to either sick with the discomfort and physical appearance, or avoid possible future aging discomforts and try to look as physically appealing while Im still young.

As for pain and squeemishness, I personally am no stranger to physical pain and medical procedures, but some people are, ultimately we are all going to get sick and die. I find it a poor excuse to let fear stop us from moving forward in life. As for pain itself there are differnt types , there is "ow I've been stabbed in the hand by a fork!" and "ow that fork wound is healing but it hurts" when you wake up your dosed up on morphene and your just drowsy and achey, but with a strong mental attitude It it only hurts as much as you let it.
