I Started reading about it and found that animation runs at minimum of 16 frames a second. Thats 960 frames/minute. Each character needs almost 1000 still pictures for just one minute. Scary. (American TV runs at 30/second and British TV at 24/second, if I remember right).
I found Gizmoz 'Talking Heads' (http://www.gizmoz.com/) and made a few animations. 'Talking Heads' is what it sounds like >> talking heads. It was simple and easy to use - it was a start.
I considered doing machinema (using a game engine to animate) but that limits you to the characters and scenery within the game.
Then I found DAZ/Studio (http://www.daz3d.com/)(you can also download it here http://www.download.com/DAZ-Studio/3000-6677_4-10717523.html?tag=lst-1).
It's FREE and lets you make just the 'key frames' while it fills in the frames in between the key frames (the technical term for those are 'tweeners' - impressive jargon, yes?). For anyone interested I should warn that DAZ/Studio has a steep learning curve but you only need to 'draw' 15 to 30 (or even 50) frames out of 1000 to 2000 per minute - it's worth it.
I'm just learning so please bear with me. As I gain experience I hope to amuse as well. Please be kind if you rate my videos, thanks.
