The point of the story, as I can see was far too complex for you. Was that kids did do need to learn how to fight back, and it can be empowering period. Same logic behind a rape victim learning self defense. It's not about proving toughness, but you do have to know how to defend yoursel...

No one in America works for free. But when it comes to retail/customer service, one little thing everyone wants like 2 months of free services or product, for going without for a week at best.
