A lot of people read poetry on the tubes. A lot of people create beautiful, blank slates of nothing but the words simply and cleanly delivered.
I'm not so hot at that.
My readings are emotional. I'll emphasise words far more than the text suggests, I'll make mistakes, I'll stumble. But I'll mean it.
I read this way because whilst it's not necessarily getting across what the poet was thinking, it gets across what the poet wanted us to feel.
