Much prefer this version to Perry's. Lee Perry said the Aswad musicians could play that real roots reggae but the rhythm really "glides". Perry's version sounds sludgy

i bet he's talking about the Writing Writer in reference to the time signature. When it goes into the chorus depending on how your brain receives it, it can sound like standard 4/4 or still sound syncopated like the verses.
About Rdemon2's channel
What instrument is playing the frog like chirp in the right channel? I'm guessing maybe a clavinet with some type effect but not sure. The Wailers are the backing band for this and a similar sound can be heard on Zimbabwe by Bob Marley.
