Trick I used with the electrified tracks was to turn them off, wait for the soldiers to come into view then turn the power back on to fry them.

How, again, were you able to travel all the way from Kryta with a party of 8? Normally you have to zone in and out of the outposts (which drops your party to 6 at Yaks Bend) if I'm not mistaken.
