That sword you mention is not the reward for the quest, it's just random leveled loot from Red Eagle. The actual reward is the sword you put into the slot to open up the chamber Red Eagle is in. When you kill him, it gets upgraded from Red Eagle's Fury to Red Eagle's Bane, with improved stats.

@ronnieglynn123 Skyrim on the PC, while fantastic, limits the amount of RAM it can access to about 2gb. Adding more RAM will not improve your game without altering the .exe file, and if you do that it can still only access about 4gb.
