When I pulled the second oil filter off, it had some very fresh looking metals. I would think that the more often you change it the better. Have you bought a new one yet or is this your first one? Only one? Idk. When you buy them new they have a break in procedure from the dealership and thats what most shops tell you to do. Sorry to jump your post.
