It say it uses billions of watts of electricity. Where the heck are they going to get several Gigawatts of electricity from in Alaska? To produce it by nonnuclear means would take a fairly long time. Also, in order to create a shock wave that powerful the air would need to cool very, very fast.

Now what would be really cool is if you could hit something accurately at long range with it going fairly straight(magnetic fields might help to guide it) and without it reacting with the air or cooling before it reaches the target.
