I think the a/c was experiencing windshear, this comes as a microburst downwashes air onto the airfield. The spoilers slowed the airflow over the outer wing, minimizing turbulent roll effects while the pilots concentrate on rudder inputs in order to keep the plane pointing down the runway center...
