Rain released "Walk With Me" The Mixtape September 2011
Rain started writing poetry at age 14. By the time she reached 18, her writing had developed and she was writing more and more "soul searching poetry". It was in 2004 (age 21) when she first picked up a mic to share her work publicly at small events and open mic nights. With all the positive feedback she began searching for producers so she could lay her poetry over beats as she always had a love for hip hop music.
Rain is influenced and inspired by rappers like Nas and Tupac: "I was a huge fan of Tupac through school and i really got into Nas, before that when i was much younger i would play cassette tapes of TLC and Salt and Pepper. Reggae and R&B was always playing in my house too and i grew to Love Mary J Blige! Right now my favourite rapper is J.Cole and I Love a good gospel song, especially from Marvin Sapp. I Love he's music"
In 2007 after earning a degree in Film & Video Production, Rain couldn't shake the urge to do something with her rapping skills so in her spare time she would continue writing and looking for producers and recorded a few tracks here and there without any real aims to pursue music.
In 2010, After continuous encouragement to take music more seriously Rain decided to do just that and started recording 'Walk With Me" using lyrics she had been sitting on for years along with freshly written material.
