Back in the old days, on the real railroads, they didn't have all these fancy rolers, so they just slathered lard on the rails, shunted the engine onto th freased rails, and opened the throttle. The engine would thrash her drivers and the engineers could see that all was well.

@MrTllr There is a tale here in the states in a book I read about three years back. This story is called THE 11:59, and it is about a supernatural railroad train that comes to take old railroaders away when they die.

My grandfather passed away about a year ago. When I heard this song for the first time, I turned to Mom and said, " This sounds like Papa about 100 years ago." He loved all things cowboy and was quite knowlegdable on the subject.
