Hi, I'ver never tried it, but I'd guess it would be something to do with the material type. If you make a custom texture you can easily choose a material type. This would also change the impact sounds if you were to shoot it. I don't know how to change a texture that's already been made, though. You'd probably have to use a program called gcfscape to extract it and to modify the vmt file.
