Admiraal De Ruyter was gezien de beperkte mogelijkheden van klein Holland inderdaad de beste admiraal ooit en Holland was inderdaad ook de grootste zeevarende macht. In 1660 had het 10 keer meer koloniën dan Engeland. Maar wist je trouwens dit feit?? Holland had de meest noordelijke kolonie (Spitsbergen met Smeerenburg), de meest oostelijke kolonie (Dejima), de meest westelijke kolonie (Dutch Harbour op de Alëoeten bij Alaska) EN de meest zuidelijke kolonie (Australië) TEGELIJKERTIJD. Maar we hadden helaas ook landverrader Willem III.
