About this user
Hello,
This account is dedicated to those, like myself, who have an interest in the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) and the emergency services of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
The RNLI is the charity that owns and operates almost all of the lifeboats around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
They provide a 24/7 lifesaving service, whatever the weather. Their lifeboats are crewed by volunteers, who drop everything whilst at work or home to save the lives of others at sea.
The RNLI operate 235 lifeboat stations, with over 300 lifeboats.
They operate at sea, at scenes of flooding and on major inland waterways such as Loch Ness and the River Thames.
It costs the charity £139 million each year to run (over £380,000 each day), and as a charity, the RNLI relies on voluntary contributions to stay operational and independent of HM Coastguard and the UK Government.
Thank you.
