The Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics!
Our last Religious Education Congress, held in February 2014, brought together over 39,000 for the four-day weekend! We had 21,676 registered from across the country and as far away as the U,K. and Australia. Attendance at Youth Day 2014 was 15,013!
Variety of Topics -- Over the three days, Congress 2014 offered over 300 workshops presented by 184 speakers. Topics ranged from personal growth to music to spiritual topics -- in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Representing Many Cultures -- Congress annually offers a number of liturgies of different character. Congress 2014 offered 18 Eucharistic Liturgies of different character, including Black Culture, Celtic, Contemplative, Evening Prayer, General, Jazz, Mayan, Native American, Spanish, Urban Fusion, Vietnamese, and Young Adult -- as well as evening prayer and a Taizé service.
Free Exhibits (open to Registrants only) -- Congress 2014 showcased 490 booths housing over 200 companies as exhibitors -- ranging from religious art to music, and from publishing houses to educational institutions, in addition to our own represented Archdiocesan ministries.
Free Entertainment for Registrants -- Admission to Congress includes both free lunchtime and evening concerts -- ranging from contemporary Christian music to the leading Latino composers and artists. Musical artists at Congress 2014 included Meredith Augustin, Anna Betancourt, John Burland, Andrew Chinn, Jackie Francois, Stella García-López, Sarah Hart, The Jacob and Matthew Band, ValLimar Jansen, Rudy López, Michael Mangan, Jesse Manibusan, Donna Peña, Ceili Rain, Pedro Rubalcava, Curtis Stephan, and more! In addition to our Art Exhibit, our evening Film Showcase, Sacred Space, our annual Young Adult Dance and Social, and still more!
