Billed as 'The World's Toughest Bicycle Race' the 2011 Race Across America celebrated its 30th anniversary this past June of 2011. With its starting line in Oceanside CA, RAAM passed through 12 states as an international field of cyclists raced over 3000 miles to the finish line in Annapolis, MD. This year the race will passed through: CA, AZ, UT, CO, KS, MO, IL, IN, OH, WV, PA, MD.

With over 100 racing entities, this years race hosted its largest number of competitors ever. RAAM contestants represented 20 countries and most U.S. states. Racing entities consisted of solos, 2 person, 4 person and 8 person teams in male, female and mixed categories.

To become an official finisher, solo male contestants must complete the 3,014 mile race course in less than 12 days, seniors and women are allowed nearly 13 days. For teams, the cut-off is 9 days.

On top of that, in each of the last three years, RAAM contestants have used the race to raise over $1 million for various charitable causes.
