I AM A SOCIALIST BECAUSE:
Despite all rumors and the conservative propaganda, SOCIALISM is superior to a free market economy.
Competition is not necessary for a successful economy, it is rather the reason why companies are forced to exploit the working class as much as possible in order to stay competitive.
In a free market economy people sell their workforce for inadequate wages, while most of the surplus value (created by the worker) goes to the private company leaving the society dependant on taxes. But profit orientated companies have to produce in countries with low taxes and bad working conditions in order to stay competitive, so the taxes have to be low or the company leaves the country causing a loss of tax money and jobs. In order to compensate the cheap taxes for the companies, the country needs higher income and value added taxes. The dependance on taxes of private companies leaves the country vulnerable to corruption and lobbyism. It is no secret that the pharma, oil, gas, electric power and military industries are controled by lobbies who influence the decisions of our parliaments destryoing democracy and sovereignity.
If the means of production belong to the whole of society, we can assure fair working conditions and invest the surplus value of every production and business in the development of the country (social system, healthcare, education, infrastructure. economy.. ) for the benefit of everyone. In order to stabilize and expand the middle class (and aim for a classless society), the prices for essential products are extremely lowered, while luxury items get more expensive. Since the surplus value of every business is used for the development of the country and the social system, there is no need for taxes.
Only if the parliament is completely independent from the industry and lobbies, a country can call itself democratic.
There is no democracy without socialism and no socialism without democracy.
The most successful countries in the world are the most socialist ones: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Venezuela

The fact is, that some peoples labor is literally worthless and people who take their own responsibilities seriously, dont want to carry the dead weight of people not willing to do so for themselves.
