Ode to Heli, Godess of Flight

Helis are works of art and engineering marvels. I have always loved their beauty, the curves of the canopy, the technical intracacies of the flybar cage, and the elegance of the flybarless head, and the challenge of being one with a heli. I love the engineering and physics that come together in controlled flight. I love the cry of the air as the blades shred through it, the whine of the motor, servos and gears violently bringing power and control to chaos as a hundred parts fly in close formation. We spend a lot of money to meticulously build and engineer our heli, then destroy it in seconds for the passion of doing it all over again with the hope eternal, that one day, a pack will begin with a graceful spin up, and end with an equally graceful spin down, with a clean, controlled flight in between, as we dream of the mastery of 3D, the precision of F3C, the beauty of scale, and the sheer joy of sport flying. Helis are beautiful just sitting there, works of art. Imagining them in flight, and seeing them in flight, brings it all together as few other things can. Believing that once we could not but one day we can makes us keep coming back for more.

Einstein says we are insane, for we keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. We are addicted. We are HeliFreaks...
