About Me:
We called ourselves 'The Shadows' and performed at local clubs and Dance Halls in Portsmouth U.K.
In 1959 'Cliff Richard and the Drifters' changed their name to 'Cliff Richard and The Shadows'. So we became 'Ricky and the Teenbeats' and later 'Danny and The Raiders'
My role was vocals with a few lead guitar slots.
I got engaged in 1963 to my lovely wife and left the band.
My Hofner guitar was hung on the wall and stayed there until I retired a few years ago and got it down after finding BurnsErnst site.
The controls switches were locked solid and the pick-up had lost volume so I bought a cheap guitar/amp and basically have to learn to play again.
My current set-up is the same cheap guitar, a HBM hand built Fender Strat, three other Strat style guitars, a Les Paul Epiphone, a Fender Classic 50 Reissue Fiesta Red Strat with Hank B Marvin set-up and gold hardware, I also managed to find the last new Burns white '50th Anniversary Apache' Guitar in the U.K., two Alesis Quadraverb's with EFTP by Charlie Hall, a Line Port UX1 to connect to a lap-top and I also have a Vox Valvetronix amp. My latest acquisition late 2011 is a Pod X3.
I use the Audacity software to record with (thanks again Ernst) and it's free!
