The smoke is normal for the PW4000, there is nothing wrong with it and is quite normal. It doesn't make the engine any/better or worse.

About the strange behaviour, you have to remember the wake of the aircraft is still well in effect over the runway, so that is probably the cause of it sort of 'hugging' the runway like that and behaving strangely, it's like it's stuck in its airflow.

And it's probably some sort of metallic FOD,...

While AA might have somewhat screwed TWA, what would have happened if they didn't intervene? Go bankrupt due to the Icahn Karabu scheme and still have nothing left (Apparantly they were days away from filing for bankruptcy). Stupid Carl Icahn screwed everything right up at TWA. RIP.

No water is injected into the engines, these aren't the old waterburners of the 60s. It's fuel that is not burnt properly and is ejected out the exhaust of the engine.

MD-11s are always a b**** to land and control, especially in crosswind, let alone Kai Tak.

For everyone who thinks its a C-130, notice its LATVIA. It is NOT a C-130 but an Antonov AN-12, which with its Ivchenko AI-20 turboprops normally smoke like this.
