it's not normal for chicks to die due to wound especially when they just hatced, lot of chances that it's the mom who killed the chick unless you have rats around the coop cause i've been through that alot, even chicks up to 3 months old still get caught up with it. plus, did it die in the nest or outside the nest, if outside, there's a possible chance the other hens could have gotten to it, cause hens will kill other hens chicks. they do know if the chicks are theirs or not that's why you really never see 2 hens with chicks actually put together in 1 cage. even if the hens doesn't fight, like yours, they will still kill the other hens chicks. hope this helps bro.

Sup bro... Saw you comment on my friend NinjaDNA page. It only takes 20 days for her to sit on the eggs only, it doesn't take 5-6 weeks like you've post your comment. It its take any longer than 20 days, they're all bad eggs or the rooster doesnt want to mount on the hen or the hen doesn't let the rooster to mount (mate).Usually by day 19, the eggs will start to crack by the baby chicks pecking from inside the eggs. Hope this help.
