Its funny how shows talk about piercing the armor,but like you said n i agree you dont have to, the blunt force trauma can kill you with one good hit weather it pierces or not

I agree their is so much misinformation out there.I have 2 battle ready katanas,and i actually use them for Tameshigiri.And ill have some kid whos never owned one and goes by video games try to tell me their capabillities.its fusturating but sometimes funny!

The Katana is a very beautiful sword - no doubt, but it seems overrated. In fact the Kilij was proven to be a better cut than a Katana because of the curve to it. Anyway it seems the Katana was good against unarmed peasants or warriors in hard leather, but against a western warrior in full chainmail with mail coif it would have struggled. In fact the only people that think the Katana is better than a longsword for practical uses seem to be teenagers and Japanophiles who play too many videogames and watch too many samurai movies.

Thank you for defending the european longsword. I am sick of people saying that they are inferior to the katana when in truth they are just as good.
