I live on the border of Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana with my wife, Katie, and our kids Morgan and Cameron. As my wife puts it, "we are travel addicts." Apparently, it is genetic, because the kids have it, too.In the early 1990s, major insurance and financial services companies started paying me to recruit and train insurance and financial advisors. If they were willing to get contracted through my company, I would get paid by the insurance company for recruiting them. As a self-proclaimed nerd, I felt an obligation to be more knowledgeable than the advisors I was teaching. Not only did I earn my insurance and securities licenses (Series 6, 63, & 7), but I became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Registered Financial Consultant (RFC), Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC), and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA). Because they are important pieces of your overall financial puzzle, I also became licensed to sell mortgages and real estate.
Every week I gave a workshop or taught a course. Every week, at least one advisor would ask How can I get in front of more prospects?
I had a realization! I only got paid when they wrote business. They could not write business unless they could get in front of prospects.
Initially, I spent a few years making the same mistakes everyone else made. We tried mass mailing, seminars, email blasts, hired telemarketers, and bought leads. Nothing worked consistently and was cost-effective.
Finally, I found the obvious answer in a book. Along with my advisors, I had been following the followers. We had been using the same techniques used by other average advisors.
We needed to Follow the Leaders. It sounds so simple. I asked several advisors who were very successful (earning 7 figure or high 6 figure incomes) how they got their clients.
What amazed me most? ALL of their answers were the same!
I organized these proven, effective strategies into a systematic program called the Infinity Client Creation System and I have been teaching that for several years. The results were consistently effectiveregardless of industry.
After going through the Infinity Client Creation System, professionals would surround themselves with a team of people who would send them referrals. Most of my time was spent helping professionals build these teams. Initially, they were called STAR Teams (Strategy, Training, Accountability, and Referrals). We eventually changed the name to The Prospection Network when I started connecting the teams so members could communicate with members of other Chapters.
