Prometheus (Greek: Προμηθεύς, "forethought") is chained on a rock in Caucasus and his heart is tormented by the eagle everyday, but regenerates at night due to his immortality, to be tormented again next day.
That was his punishment by the God, for bravely stealing the fire and bringing it to the humanity, as the sacred knowledge.
Prometheus is a Titan, the son of Iapetus and Themis, and brother of Atlas (Atlanti), Epimetheus and Menoetius.

Even though his body was bound, his spirit was free and the Titan refused to buckle to Zeus' threats, torture and tyranny. Here's what he told Hermes:
