About Me:

Profriend = Professional Friend, aka counselor, shrink, coach, pych dude. I went to school for psychology and counseling, but I'm not a practicing psychologist. I do volunteer work with adolescents and young adults who need support and unbiased information, as well as with parents on parenting strategies. I've always been interested in the origins and development of human personality and behavior with an emphasis on child prodigies in the visual and performing arts. Lately I've been informally researching current parenting trends and results, so I'm watching lots of kids' and family videos here on You Tube. It's amazing how much you can learn that way, and every so often I'll come across some amazing kids. I also own a small telecom manufacturing company because it pays the bills better. As a kid I was a professional singer (back row alto in a boy choir), a Boy Scout, and had a great deal of fun. My son also sang in a school chapel choir, was in Scouts, and went on to be a happily married Army officer! He and his wife are about to make me a grandpa. Life is good. Benny and Omar by Eoin Colfer, a fantastic Irish author. Actually, anything by Colfer is great - The Artemis Fowl series, Spuds Murphy, The Wish List! Beyond Colfer I have liked Running with Scissors, Master and Commander, Resevoir Pups, Angela's Ashes, all Tom Clancy stuff, tons more. I manage to get through a book every few weeks in short sessions before bedtime.
