I've yet to get around to giving the new AAL a really in depth listen, but I definitely liked what I heard from it - it seems less repetitive and more varied than the debut to me. Again, may not be final opinion since I havent been able to give it a good full listen yet, but thats the vibe I get.

As long as Brysslings writing the shit though I think it'll still sound like SoP, that distinctively twisted, darker sound they have and the more chromatic/atonal type of riffs, Obscura doesn't really go into that territory as much. Regardless, looking forward to hearing how fretless works within the SoP frame, and to hearing a new SoP album in general, hopefully theyll get more recognition for it.

I checked it out, was actually fairly impressed. Sort of reminds me of old Arsis. I actually saw them open for BTBAM back in April though and was pretty unimpressed, but that was before this new stuff was out. The problem with them when I saw them live was everything kind of blended together, but this seems to be more dynamic so maybe that wouldnt be the case anymore.
