My opportunities to perform are few, so this is my way to share what I am working on. It will hopefully be a measure of progress and improvement. Altho I have high standards for myself (which I can't reach), I cannot claim that anything I produce will be 100% just yet so please be nice to me! :) I would add that there will probably end up being a lot of oratorio on here, with appropriate imagery. I am however, not a religious person, as such. Any constructive & sincere criticism is welcome, especially from anyone who specialises in the baroque/bel canto style. I'm not sure about my vocal fach (maybe it's my German heritage, but I like to know!) According to passaggi, tessitura & timbre, I suspect my voice is too "big" for me - which would explain a lot. Not sure though ..

I am an amateur soprano. I have been having singing lessons for around three years now, although classical music has been a passion of mine since a young age. Apparently, my voice suits the baroque & bel canto repertoire well and this also happens to be what I enjoy singing and listening to the most. My aim is to sing employing the baroque (or bel canto) vocal technique and style as far as I have learnt about it e.g. voce bianca (singing "on the breath" without excessive vibrato), uniting the registers, no "swooping", no audible breaths, clean coloratura without lots of "huhuhu" noises, ornamentation, trills, as much evenness as I can manage, messe di voce and about a million other things. However, I think it is best to sing freely & with an open throat & nose .. I don't see how a searing, squawky, nose-stuffy, over-supported sound is particularly "baroque" - unfortunately, I used to but I changed my opinion.
My boyfriend calls me his "least hated opera singer" which I suppose I should take as a compliment!
