About Me:
In the midst of a childhood move, from his Queens, New York roots to the "Sunshine State," Julian (17 years old) had to make an immediate -- and difficult -- transition to Miami, a city whose demographic diversity was starkly different from his New York home. Julian comes from a Filipino mother who is well known for her musical talents in singing and piano from the from the Philippines to New York. In fact, she won a nationwide singing competition while being pregnant with Julian. "Seeing the response my mother would get when she sang and would play the piano during church or for a performance made me want to do it too", says the young Pop singer. "At first my mother forced me to join the church choir and enrolled me in piano lessons, but today I thank her for doing this, because it shaped me into the artist I am today." On the other hand, his father, also from a Filipino background, is a Doctor and education always played a large role in the Coz family, so getting good grades was a must for Julian. Julian used his diverse background to draw questions -- and interest -- from anyone that desired to learn more about his style.
When Julian Coz first embarked on his musical journey, his recording process was experimental and purely recreational. Leveraging his popularity, he would perform at local, school, and church events in New York. Unknowingly, he was laying the groundwork in developing and strengthening his confidence and comfort as a performer. But to gain national exposure, Julian knew that he would have to push himself further.
Riding the wave of popularity behind MySpace, long before the launch of its famous "music pages," Julian began to self-promote his music online and cultivate a regional following in the process. Over the course of a few years, he eventually transformed into the young artist he is today.
Julian was discovered by manager/producer/songwriter, Hdot Miranda, also former intern at BadBoy Records. Mr. Miranda favored Julian's dedication to music, fashion-style, and large fan base on the internet and proposed to manage the young pop star. With his assistance Julian took his career to the next level. Stepping from behind the "digital veil" was a bit nerve-wrecking at first, since audiences familiar with Julian's music began to set a new set of expectations on his delivery and presentation. The two secured thousands of digital plays and downloads on various online properties -- paving the way for Julian Coz's music career.
When creating music, Julian focuses on the overall feeling, because he believes in the power and capability music has to affect a listener's mood. His first project, "Promise" was a BIG hit with his LARGE female fan base and received thousands of downloads the first day it was released. Julian's career seemed to be taking off! Julian Coz has now joined up with the BassBox Music production team to generate a new sound of music. Today, Julian Coz is being managed by super producer, "Tokeyo". ''I'm ready for the world to hear what I have to offer" says the teen super star.
