Blacksburg Stories is a youth video workshop that bridges the divide between the Blacksburg and Virginia Tech communities by inviting university students to get involved in the local community through youth media literacy education.

In this first year pilot program underwritten by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, video facilitators from Virginia Tech spent two weeks working with New River Valley area middle school students to create short documentaries about people and places in Blacksburg.

The program was hosted at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Blacksburg and co-sponsored by the Virginia Tech Department of Communication. The program is directed by Ashley Maynor.
