I used to record with a grainy 20 dollar open air microphone, a firstact guitar, a line6 spider 3 15 watt amp, and a Casio keyboard. (Aria, 767, Improv). To cut and play with the music, I use Audacity which is a free sound editing program. My setup sounds expensive, I know.
I've recently purchased Riffworks and a Line 6 Pod which has vastly improved the quality of my music. (Circle the Drain+)
I upload music here for those who can't get the Myspace player to work.
"It's kind of cool, the whole "music" thing, because once you understand the musical harmony and how notes flow together and where to go for the sound you want, making music becomes less of a mental effort and turns the songs you write into products of how you feel, not what notes you can string together.
Like now, if someone told me to play that song, I probably couldn't. It all just flows off of the top of the proverbial tongue, and then I forget it. This week has been very stressful, and I just kind of channeled all of the shit into a positive outlet and created... that.
Good stuff." - Brett P.
