This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've heard played on the five-string.

I once watched Pete Seeger standing alone on that stage with a banjo in one hand, and the entire audience in the other. Impressed me more than any other live act I'd ever seen.

What impressed me is that it's not a techno-gimmick. He's playing real music that reaches me.

Wow. If you close your eyes and just listen, it's still brilliant. A great arrangement, well played and well sung.

I'm a big Väsen fan, and love all things nyckelharpa. This is a nice take on a nice tune. But what is the deal with all the headless musicians on youtube?

Shel was a god among men. This just seals the deal.

I dunno. Looks like they're just standing there miming a record. Nobody's plugged into an amp, and 1960's wireless technology sucked. And would it have killed them to actually light the musicians?

Well, this is just about as good it gets. Gorgeous.

I saw this couple a few years ago in Crockett, CA, and was just charmed. This is roots music at its best.

All the other stuff aside.... Nice music.

I LOVE this. She's got the fire and she's got the groove. And the backing track ruins nothing. Besides. I love her.

Maria's not the only one who went on to bigger things. Worth noting that the the fiddler is Richard Greene, and the guy on 5-sting is Bill Keith, who literally wrote the book on Earl Scruggs. Hell, rumor has it that they had God playing mouth harp. Honest to God.

Shel did not write the Sylvia's father verse. Dennis did, on the spot, at a gig. And Shel loved it. -Rik
