Posse Up Entertainment (also known as Jacktown Records) is an independent urban music label based in Jackson, TN. The label was founded as Jacktown Records in 2001, by Derrick"Dr Gigglez" Fuller.
The young independent label launched it's label with the release of a compilation of up and coming talent now known as the infamous: "Roastin' & Toastin Vol.1".
The idea was to make a compilation of local acts and circulate the project to all parties involved.
The featuring artists would make the money from the CD and promote their own projects.
However....Most artists don't know the math and things did not quite roll over so smoothly........
The album's released caused a great deal of controversy and adversity for the label due to other local artists declaring a war against "Gigglez & Company", however, the labels consistent releases and relate-able material eventually won some fans over to solidify an underground following.
When the smoke cleared Dr Gigglez formed a team w/ King Chiefa; Da Grym Reefer and later Denny Lucci.
Roastin & Toastin' was followed up w/ Jacktown Underground a year later, and Roastin' & Toastin' Vol.2.
The label began to focus on
later undergoing a name change in 2006 due to a local copyright dispute over the name.
Though Dr Gigglez had filed copyright over the name 1st, he decided the label needed to take another direction and become more universal.
Posse Up Entertainment was born....
