Alcoholism is genetic and and illness. Whether or not its a "disease" is open to debate, especially depending on how you define "disease".

and lol at "most people overcome alcoholism" lots of people die and kill themselves due to alcoholism.

I havent attended AA, and I think there may be some flaws (in the more vigilant meetings atleast), but hating on a group that aims to help people for FREE is lame, and so many do it.-it HAS helped people too.
