The modularity blew my mind when I was kid. I had one of the cargo lifter trucks. Once I saw all the vehicles that my truck could lift onto the bed of the truck was *awesome.* This series was really cool, awesome mechanics.

Oh yeah, the different colors are to represent different train lines in Japan. Some trains service the plains (Kansai, etc), other lines run through the mountains. Ditto with the bullet trains, blue is the line to Osaka, green to the north (hence snow association).

I had passed this when I encountered it in a record store in the 90s, having a love/hate relationship with the previous release from Psykosonik.

What. A. Mistake.
