Description: The video depicts a secret island somewhere far-far away where dead celebrities go to have a secret party! The celebrities are only real to all of us because of television - even if we see them in real life, they will not be the same as they are on TV. Television also makes them immortal - therefore it might actually be the "heaven" all celebrities want to go to after they die? In this video the Secret Island is floating on clouds as a metaphor for heaven but all the celebrity souls are in television boxes - almost like trapped there - but since they left their bodies on earth, they are "wearing" artificial robot bodies modeled after the ones they used to have when they were alive. In the end, there is a child watching the whole "show" on television which symbolizes again the immortality granted by TV as well as our media exploiting celebrities even after their deaths to make money off them. The ending of the video also shows a rather sad and dim street which shows the contrast between reality and fantasy and how television is like a gate between the two worlds. Celebrities are people we often know "of" but not "about". Everybody finds these characters depicted in this animation familiar. Celebs such as James Brown, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison are known to all of us as artists, but some of us have never listened to The Doors and some of us don't even know that Elvis played in several movies as well. Or Albert Einstein - everyone knows he was a smart guy, but what exactly makes him famous? Is it just the e=mc2 or is there anything else he contributed to todays science? And Ghandi. Most people probably only know he's from India. And that's it. Eventually we just use them as stickers to help us label things like if you're funny, you're like Charlie Chaplin. But rarely is a filmmaker labelled Charlie Chaplin. And what most of us know about John Fitzgerald (yes, that's what the "F" stands for) Kennedy is that he was assassinated. But is that the only reason to remember him by? And Jackie O was the first lady of the United states once, but I bet you didn't know that she married again and after her second husband died, she received a $26,000,000 inheritance? So the next time you find someone throwing out celebrity names, ask them if they know who they are talking about ;)
