Very good song. Not up to Laibach's usual excellent standard, but not bad. They don't do enough to improve on Dylan's sense of psychotic carnival doom. Great video.

I like how the parts the band plays have nothing to do with the music you hear. The guitarists could be playing a different song.

@midlocal Jordan amps, at 1:16 with image enhancement. A common amp back then, solid state, reliable, sounded okay without distortion. Abandoned when everyone turned everything up, as they sound bad and fry.

The problem with this is that if you don't know the inside story, you can't tell that it's a parody, except that the sentences are all grammatically correct.

This is much older than Dial-A-Poem, great as that album is.

Meredith Monk recorded it with Don Preston in 1967, and had it pressed, but not released, on a 7" single, by "Aunt Jamima and the Pancakes". BTW her own site has a nice chronology of her work, which mentions this album.

All the Rupert Holmes songs on the album are sort of like this - Bloodknot, Give Up Your Guns, etc.. the ones written by the band are mellow and melancholic, more like a CSN influence. Another band that got used for that one hit.

This isn't abuse. The abuse comes when the dog decides it likes the kids, humps one of them, and then drags them around the yard for a half hour with its dick stuck in the kid.

Really sad, for Al. It sounds way dated, and not all his songs do that. The thing he's parodying has no real melody, and a really gross manipulative arrangement, and he has to follow them both. The sad truth is that this song is self-referential.

You just gotta get your priorities straight. The Orange isn't for volume, it's for feedback. Against a brass section, an Orange isn't even THAT loud. Probably blended nicely onstage. But yeah, that's a hell of a loud cowbell. Maybe it has its own Orange stack.
