Welcome.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to my channel, and I'm working to keep the good music coming.
This channel is dedicated to airing great music that never got to see the light of day. Additionally, I may post more popular tracks that I feel could use another YouTube exposure.
Most of the material comes from the mid-to-late sixties, but I may post music from the late 50's thru whenever.
CHANNEL NEWS -
Life has been interesting and challenging for the past while, and I'm currently editing and producing these videos far away from where the footage originated from. ;-) Enjoy!
ABOUT THE VINYL TRACK PROCESSING:
The audio quality is dependent upon how worn out the records are. I have to do some extreme measures sometimes, using scripts in Adobe Audition 3.0, in order to extract useful audio from the record. Additionally, I can only use the extreme tools on mono records, mostly the 45's. If a stereo record is really worn, so that my normal restoration tools cannot do it justice, I simply will not post the song.
I fade out the crackles from the intro groove area as soon as the song begins, in order to present the best quality that I can for the audio track. I leave the sounds of the needle drop and the intro noise in the sound track for the most part. I often will gradually fade those noises out as the starting point of the music arrives.
All of the fades (outro's) have been carefully de-crackled and de-noised, so that I can play out every last second of the record, rather than fading early to avoid all the lead-out noise, so all of the outro's are noise-free, on purpose.
All of the music you hear on my vids comes from the vinyl that is playing. Guaranteed! I have CD's of some of the album cuts, but I won't substitute the 'better' sound of the CD for the vinyl - that is not the intent of this channel.
Technical info:
All of the audio is ripped directly from the phonograph into Cool Edit Pro 2.0 or Audition 3.0 at 24/96, then processed using custom-built presets in those programs. The main intent of this channel is to present each track in as good a quality as is possible from these often well-worn records, so quite a bit of effort goes into the vinyl sound track restoration.
The record playback system consists of a Technics SL1200MKII and an Audio Technica AT150MLX phono cartridge. The audio interface is an upgraded EMU 1820m, with the high-quality built-in 2-stage phono preamp.
The camera is a Canon HFS-10, and video editing is being done using Sony Vegas Home Studio 11 on a newly-built computer based on an Asus P5K-E motherboard running a Q6600 cpu under XP Pro.
Since July 2010, the videos are posted as 720p 320kAAC-MP4. This helps to preserve the audio and video quality that I am able to produce at my end. Before that date, the vids were being uploaded as wmv's, so the quality is not as good, and other issues such as proper lighting had not been gotten together. Amazing what you can learn here!
Enjoy!
