About this user
My passion in life is Music, Art, Writing poetry, Singing, trying to serve humanity in my very limited way and--
Knowing that yesterday is history....tomorrow is a mystery.....Enjoy today---for it is a GIFT. That is why it's called the present ♥
Some of my original copyrighted poems include:
SNOW
If we were like the snow,
our lives would be so white
that everyone who knows us
would be led to say,
"I wish my character were spotless as the thing I see today."
If we were like snow, the children
would be glad to see us come,
and share with us their play
And, we should make the world a happier place before we went away.
If we were like the snow, when all our
work is done....we would slip very
quietly away---
without farewell....as those who know
that they shall meet again someday.
WHAT IS LOVE?
Love is something unseen, like the wind
It is a bond between two hearts...a friendship that never ends.
Love is a warm feeling toward my neighbor--and being able to rejoice with him over a small success.
Love is the encouraging smile of my
little girl.
Love is a cup of hot tea shared with a friend in the morning
Love is doing without in order to make somebody else happy.
Love puts sparkle in the eyes and softness in the voice.
Love feels another's hurt and goes out of its way to soothe it.
Love is walking hand in hand, sharing a life together in perfect contentment.
Love is not selfish. It always considers the other person first.
Love is being able to say, "I'm sorry."
Love is giving and forgiving.
God is love
MAELSTROM
I've been tangled in the maelstrom too long
I shall escape and find my way again---
Back to the quiet place where I belong
Far from the tinseled provinces of men
These will be waiting after my release:
The sheltered ways....The quiet ways
of peace.
THE AUTUMN OF MY LIFE
If the autumn of life is half as lovely
as the autumn of earth...I shall not
grieve for the vanished days of a
rapturous spring---
Nor beg for one moment of reprieve
I have loved the snows of dandelion and plum that rivalled the frost-flakes mystic designs
But...what of a world in crimson and gold
with wild grapes spilling their purple wines....
And, if winter shall come? I am content to leave my life in the hands of a God
whose mind could conceive the autumn of earth....and star it with astors
and goldenrod.
FOR MY DAUGHTER
A woman soon, where yesterday
a child picked cherries
from atop the tree
And swung with wild abandon
through the leaves...
Now stands sedately in the dappled shade
and dreams of romance...and in fancy,
weaves a tapestry of things to be.
Of constant love and travels afar....
Of great career and wide acclaim
You call and call her name....
She does not hear
Or does not heed
For, this today and this place here
are nothing...
as she stands alone
And, each new dream begins
"When I am grown....."
WHAT GOD SAID
It must have been a lovlier word
than the ears of man have ever heard--
The word God said that made the tall
strength of the trunk, and the boughs,
and all the rich designs of pure delight
of leaves....that still on a summer night
reminded by some passing breeze
echo the word that made the trees.
TAPESTRY
Our lives are but a "thread"
in the tapestry of time
For, the weaving of mankind
is by infinite design
Embroidered in earth's course
and the firmament above
is man's pre-established path
interlaced with God's great love
Each sovereign stitch that's sewn
by the Mastercrafter's hand
is fashioned in the quilt
of His vast, eternal plan
The fabric of our days
is God's handiwork sublime
For, from heaven's sacred loom
stems our slender "thread" in time.

Occupation
I work with residents who have Alzheimer's disease. I write their Life Stories...write poetry with them....sing with them....pray with them...and help them die with dignity. One of quotes often used at work is Maya Angelous's comment, "I've learned that people will forget what you said.....People will forget what you did......But people will never forget how you made them feel."
