Phil Tippett is the monster maker behind many unforgettable creatures in contemporary fantastic cinema. From the Imperial Walkers of Star Wars to Robocop's lumbering ED-209; the alien insects of Starship Troopers to the mammoth beasts of Dragonheart and Jurassic Park; and the grotesque goblins of the Spiderwick Chronicles to the photo-real wolves of the Twilight Saga.

Inspired by the classic animation of Ray Harryhausen and Willis O'Brien, Phil's career has spanned the history of visual effects from stop-motion animation through the technological miracles of modern software.

Even with major motion picture work continuing to flow from his Berkeley-based visual effects studio, in this age of mega-blockbusters and 3-D projection, Phil continues to wrestle life into stop motion characters in his secret back-room projects.
