Hmmm, I think this debate is western philosophy versus eastern philosophy. That is the former with its basis on the self and spirituality meets the latter who's basis is on objective logical coherence. Probably why there's a strong opposition within it.

Loved when Harris raised his eyebrows for the statement that intention effects reality. He's thinking "noooo, perception, a physical interaction, effects reality...not intention...though that accent does make him seem Guruish..."

It is very clarifying, thank you. I'm reading Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil" and I arrived at the concept when he claims that philosophy is a Will to Power. This video clarifies it up a whole lot. Now I understand that philosophy is how we make our mark on the world. It is our Will to Power.
