My thoughts on life and religion.
I'm interested in a variety of religious philosophies, and philosophies in general, but prescribe to none fully comitted as if it is Absolute.
Name: Jason
If I know anything at all about absolute truth, it is this: there is only one thing we can know about it, and that is it's beyond human comprehension. We may put our trust in any number of speculative answers to the question of what it is exactly, but they are all guesses, and like every guess, it's as good as any other.
I believe it is fine to have faith in anything you wish to have faith in, so long as you understand it's strictly subjective; it's personal. To go around saying that what you believe to be true of absolute truth is definately, positively true is presumptuous. We have to keep our beliefs in their proper perspective. Belief is a choice. Our believing doesn't make the thing believed true for you or for anyone. It's merely a belief, after all. The only thing that's evident about it is that it's believed.
So when asked the question, "What is truth?" My answer is: I just don't know. I still retain the desire to know, but I'm certain it's unknowable from the human standpoint. Religion, philosophy, and science, give us some answers to the question, but these answers are not complete --most are not even dependable-- because they come from humans who are incapable of comprehending absolute truth which simply has not been revealed to us. If it were, everyone would know it and there'd be no need to ask. All answers given are sifted through personal prejudices, preferences, tradition, and human emotions. These just aren't very dependable. Thus, the only thing we can depend on about truth is that we can't be certain our beliefs, philosophies, religions, sciences, etc., are any where close to getting it right.
