For as long as he can remember, Phil Brown has been interested in two things: music and serving his country with the Canadian Forces. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Phillip grew up listening to folk music, so naturally he took a liking to the genre. His father taught him to play the guitar at the age of nine. Ever since, he's never put it down. At the age 16 Phil joined the Canadian Army Reserve. His skill and determination as a soldier allowed him to progress quickly, and in only a couple of years he began to instruct and train other members to become effective in their trade. In 2005, Phil had a chance to fulfill a life long dream of his and served on overseas operations in Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf. He has since safely returned to Canada.
In the spring of 2006, he released his debut album titled "At Home." Within just months, Phil followed this release with a second, titled "Café Mirage," in November 2006. Phil has become known for his skilful guitar playing and unique style of finger picking. He is often compared to early Bruce Cockburn, or Gordon Lightfoot, but if you could describe his music in a word, the word would be "honest."
At only 22 years old, this young, true Canadian hasn't even begun to reach his full potential and talent as a musician and a songwriter.
