Phil began his sales career over thirty years ago, selling everything from cookware to vacuum cleaners to automobiles. In 1979, Phil was introduced to the remodeling industry and began selling home improvements. Eighteen months later, he ventured out on his own, starting Phil Rea, Inc., a full-service remodeling company. His company quickly became highly profitable and earned him the title Remodeling Sales Guru by industry experts. His selling recipe, The Full Routine is now the most widely used in-home remodeling sales system. Phils notoriety as being a salespersons salesperson, coupled with his straight-talking southern style, quickly became a crowd favorite.
Phils speaking career quickly took off and in 1993 he was asked to join his first national fourteen-city speaking tour sponsored by Andersen Windows, Owens Corning and Remodeling magazine. Eager to continue sharing his proven sales methods and having enjoyed fifteen successful years in the remodeling business, Phil sold his remodeling company and formed Phil Rea & Associates, devoting his efforts full-time to speaking, writing and consulting.
Rea has been hired by many of the top manufacturers in the business—Andersen Windows, Owens Corning, MASCO Corporation, CertainTeed and Pella, to name a few—to consult, speak and train their dealer networks on how to become better salespeople. He has also been called upon to strategize and build start-up companies, most notably heading up efforts in 1997 to develop and launch a successful national handyman franchise. In eighteen months, Rea sold and started 40 handyman franchise territories. The number of sales (extremely high) and the cost per sale (extremely low) were the envy of many in the franchise industry.
Phil has personally made over 15,000 in-home sales calls and has accompanied hundreds of other salespeople on their in-home appointments. He has consulted with remodeling companies with volumes ranging from $250,000 to over $40 million—often turning failing, unprofitable remodeling companies into lucrative, profitable businesses within months. Phils 100% success rate has made him one of the most sought-after sales consultants in the industry.
Phils recent move into WebTV makes his training even more effective and entertaining by communicating with his audience through sight as well as sound.
