I'm a lifelong musician. While I have played a wide range of musical instruments (piano, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon), I primarily focus on the bass guitar. Regardless of style, the bass is the instrument that makes the music "go". It's been said that the drummer tells you when to move your feet, but the bass is the *reason* you move them. The bass is powerful: I can completely change the style of a song simply by changing the bass line.

I'm also a singer. I was blessed with a deep, rich, baritone voice, but I've also put a lot of work into expanding my vocal range upward. You see, while I've played many styles of music, my first love is the hard rock and heavy metal of the 1970s and '80s. What can I say, that's when I was growing up. That kind of music requires a high, powerful voice, and so I worked and worked until I could sing like that. At my best, I could reach the "E" a 10th over middle-C, which allowed me to nearly match my all-time favorite vocalist, Rob Halford of Judas Priest. I'm a little older now, and the top end of my range isn't quite as high as it used to be, but on a good day I can still reach A or B above middle-C.

Unfortunately, not long after I built my range up so that I could sing high, all the heavy metal bands switched gears and the singers started up with this low-pitched, growling, shouting that hurts my ears and rendered my impressive range obsolete. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm afraid I don't have any videos of myself to share. I just signed up to look at other people's vids. I do have some MP3 files of my old band at my personal Web site, so maybe you'll want to check those out.
