Most enjoyable performance I can recall. Except Handel wrote a single note for "Unto us a Son is giv'n" not "given." But let's not quibble. Perfect balance of orchestra and chorus, and all the voices. Thank you.

Fabulous. Hear every word and revel in the pace and accuracy. Handel wanted it so that you could tap your foot to it. As we would say today tempo-120. Just right. And this is not counting the spiritual significance, which is important for some of us, also. Thank you.

Wonderful. A proper madrigale in pace, clarity and accuracy. Good English - much better than any English chorus could perform in Portuguese!! You can hear every word. Thank you.

Fabulous. The pace and clarity make it one of the best Messiah videos on Youtube. The voice sections are perfectly balanced and talented. And the English pronunciation is very good for Portuguese speakers. Handel would have approved, I'm sure. And the pathos in the second stanza is palpable....

It's about curves and firmness. The first time I got close to a corseted lady 50 yrs ago, I was so excited by the extreme femininity of her figure. The smaller waist was only part of it - but a major part. There was also the extra curve over her hips and the shaping of her torso over her ribs....

The ignorance in some of these comments is staggering and disappointing; both religously and musicalogically. The version of Messiah we hear most times, these days, was arranged and somewhat edited by W A Mozart in 1789. He updated the instrumentation and changed some of the archaic English ["b...

At a boy in 1954 or 1955, I heard him sing Messiah with the Wigan Choral Society, Lancashire - mu mum was in the soprano chorus. The original booking had been Norman Walker but he was unwell. In the Queen's Hall, a big auditorium, Nowakowski filled every corner with his voice; without a microp...

Utterly brilliant, musically and technically. The best rendering on YouTube - and there are dozens to compare. The pace and inflexion are just as I would expect John Stanley to have had in mind. And your playing of the pic trumpet is perfect; such a rarity these days.
Thanks so much for sharing
Fabulous and "simple" performance - straight and accurate, as written by Handel; none of this modern fashionable obbligato. As a boy, I heard and saw Walker singing in Manchester Free Trade Hall, Liverpool St George's Hall and Wigan Queen's Hall. He filled those places with his voice without am...
