About PeaceCasters

PeaceCasters is the interfaith youth program of the Center for Interfaith Relations (CIR). It seeks to inspire youth of all ages to work together across faith traditions through digital media. PeaceCasters empowers young people to appreciate peace and diversity in our community and world, and equips them to get out messages of faith and action IN THEIR OWN VOICES.

If so, PeaceCasters might be right for you.

What do you do at PeaceCasters?
PeaceCasters create digital media projects ranging from creative film pieces to journalistic interviews. You'll learn how to come up with a story, film with the right sound and light conditions, and edit your raw footage into a polished product. But don't worry-no experience is necessary. On-site staff and guest film-makers will teach you everything you need to know.

You'll apply your new skills in the real world. PeaceCasters have the chance to meet and interview famous authors, musicians, faith leaders, and politicians! PeaceCasters are like CIR's news reporters, so you'll have inside access into our big events, like the Festival of Faiths and Faith Leaders Forum.

You'll also make new friends from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds. Never met a Muslim or Hindu before? Now's your chance to find out you're not so different!

But the best part of PeaceCasters is marveling at the awesome film projects that you'll create. At the end of the year you'll have the chance to share your work with friends and family at the annual PeaceCasters Showcase. And you'll take home a professionally produced DVD of your work.

What kind of digital media products do you make?
We create creative pieces, interviews, documentaries, among other projects. Check out some of our films here or search "PeaceCasters" on youtube to see all our work.

How can I become a PeaceCaster?
Any middle school student entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade is eligible to be a PeaceCaster. High school students have the opportunity to serve as mentors who teach digital media skills and help shape the PeaceCasters curriculum.
