@Cow97Tipper86 I know what power they make. But they are 525 prop shaft hp. Hence being labeled "525 efi". Your carb hp 500's only put 470hp to the water as the are 500 crankshaft hp. It was a different rating system from 2 different time periods.

And even if you have 100 steps on your hull it ...

@ramiretz That is plenty. Running at idle connected to a hose doesn't circulate a ton of water but it is sufficient.

@GOGOTRON50 Actually....it makes all the difference in the world. More power means you can turn an impeller with more pitch faster and more efficiently which in turn will push more water. Same principles as a boat with propeller with the exception of a higher power loss through the drive train.
